For anyone doing meetings daily, i have been looking for a FULLY local solution for transcription and summarization for a while now. Yesterday i found Meetily. It's an open source meeting assistant built on Rust that does EVERYTHING locally. No cloud. No data leaving your machine. The transcription runs on Whisper or Parakeet (which is 4x faster), and for summarization... here's the cool part. You can point it to any OpenAI-compatible endpoint. What does that mean? I can run LM Studio locally with whatever model i want - Qwen, Llama, Mistral, whatever fits my hardware - and Meetily just sends the transcript there for summarization. FULL control over the whole pipeline. The project already has 9.2k stars on GitHub, runs on macOS and Windows, and the setup is pretty straightforward using Tauri. For folks who are serious about privacy or just want to avoid subscription fees for meeting tools, this is exactly what i was looking for. All of my meeting notes now stay on my machine, processed by models i choose. Things like this make local AI actually practical for daily work.
