Bye Granola. Hello Meetily I love Granola, it's the best meeting note taking app I've ever used. Beautifully designed, fast, highly accurate. Except, they're hell bent on not allowing users to easily bulk export transcripts, or allow API access to them. Sure, there's the Granola MCP, but it's really meant for the AI agents to connect to it via web Oauth2, super cumbersome if I just want to create a cron job to bulk download all transcript in the past week. Why does Granola get to control how I access my own meeting transcripts? The last straw for me is that Granola doesn't save the audio either. I don't know how many times I've wanted to send an audio to someone because it's just easier to listen to the meeting rather than reading the summary. More importantly, you get to experience the emotion and nuances in the discussion that's not possible to capture in text. That pushed me to try meetily, an open source local meeting note taking software. It uses the parakeet transcription model that runs on my laptop, provides real time transcription and I get to keep all the transcripts AND raw audio. Took 5 minutes to create a Claude skill to query the local DB for the transcriptions and put it in my project folder. Personal productivity apps should run locally with all data available to the user. Period.
